The Confederation of African Football-CAF has banned Chad from the 2019 AFCON after they pulled out of the qualifying tournament for the 2017 edition. They are also to pay a fine of twenty thousand dollars.
As a result of the withdrawal only one team will qualify from the Group which has Egypt, Nigeria and Tanzania as announced by the continental-football body in January. The ban and fine are contained in Article 59 of the CAF statutes.
All results involving Chad have also been annulled as stipulated in Article 61, leaving Egypt on top with four points, Nigeria second with two points and Tanzania with a point.
